About the Bonnechere Museum

We are a community-based volunteer not-for-profit organization.

Our objectives:

  • to collect, preserve, research, and interpret artifacts for the enjoyment and education of residents and visitors now and in the future

  • to present or display interpretive, artistic, educational, scientific, and historical projects that express the identity of the community

  • to interpret natural heritage and diverse cultures

  • to foster cultural tourism by offering enrichment or educational experiences that attract visitors whose stay in the community would benefit businesses

The Bonnechere Arts and Historical Society

We are a local organization that is  licensed to use the names “Bonnechere Museum” and “Ordovician Fossil Capital of Canada.”

The Bonnechere Arts and Historical Society is a non- profit, incorporated through the Ontario Historical Society.

Our charitable designation number is 85653 7485 RR0001.

Arts and Historical Society Membership

Be a community collaborator!

We are required to have a minimum number of members for legal purposes - we need your support to keep our museum running.

Members of the Bonnechere Museum in Good Standing (dues paid for current year) can:

  • Volunteer at the Bonnechere Museum

  • Run for positions on the Board

  • Vote at General and Special meetings (if they have been Members in Good Standing for a period of no less than 60 days)

To become a member, you must be confirmed by the Bonnechere Museum Board of Directors and pay an annual fee of $10.00. Memberships can be purchased online or at the Museum.

Interested in helping out with a special event, joining the board, or volunteering at the Museum?

During the summer months, we need volunteers who can commit to a minimum of 3 hours a week.
